SHORT HISTORY
Covenant Teen was founded by Oscar & Eva Guzman in March of 2004 for the purpose of leadership development and the need to communicate with parents and their youth about upcoming activities/events going on in the Diocese/National/World. With the permission of Bishop John W. Yanta under the Diocean Youth Office, Covenant Teen was formed. The online organization was meant for youth only but in a few years the youth graduated and were saying, "Now What"?
In 2006 to the answer of "Now What"? Covenant Teen started doing thematic retreats in the Diocese of Amarillo and neighboring (arch)Dioceses. Covenant Teen travels approximately five (5) hours from Amarillo to serve the parishes with thematic retreats and/or pre-Confirmation retreats.
In February 22, 2008, Bishop Patrick J. Zurek succeded Bishop John W. Yanta as the Bishop of the Diocese of Amarillo. Bishop Zurek gave his permission for Covenant Teen to continue to minister in the Diocese of Amarillo under the Diocesan Youth Office.
In 2018, Covenant Teen added young couples as some of the members found their significant other as they minister to the youth and were called to the vocation of marriage. With marriage and growing families, Covenant Teen decided to make a family membership as well and started providing more resources for youth and families of ages but still with the focus on youth.
In 2021, Covenant Teen became a non-profit 501-(c)3.
